Tropical Tides works in three counties on the southeastern North Carolina coast, from our base in Southport. Each one builds differently, and each has its own landing page covering local conditions, communities, and common questions.

New Hanover

New Hanover packs barrier-island exposure, tidal creek frontage, and established inland neighborhoods into the smallest county in the state. A home on the sound side of Wrightsville Beach and a home in a wooded Wilmington lot are answering different questions, and the design should start by asking which one it is.

Brunswick

This is home. Tropical Tides is based in Southport, and Brunswick County is the county whose conditions we know in the most detail: a long chain of barrier islands, deepwater and ICW frontage, established coastal communities, and fast-growing inland areas that each build differently.

Pender County

Pender

Pender runs from the Topsail barrier island back through Hampstead and Scotts Hill into genuinely rural inland land around Burgaw and Rocky Point. Few counties in the region ask a designer to work across that much variation, and the right answer on one end of it is the wrong answer on the other.
